Based in Wellington, New Zealand; Jonelle du Pont is a Community Development & Stakeholder Engagement Specialist. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Development and a passion for uplifting communities. People and communities have the skills they need within themselves, but that sometimes, they need a little guidance to see their own strengths and identify the resources available within their communities.
Who is Jonelle?

South African born and raised, I moved to Wellington, New Zealand in 2018 and made the move from the Non-profit sector to local government.

Passionate about place-based and co-designed, community driven development. I have a solid understanding of the struggles faced by underprivileged and at risk communities and the importance of resilience and a bottom up approach to development. 

As a Community Development Practitioner, I’m passionate about helping communities and people identify their assets, needs and opportunities.

Community development work aims to actively engage communities in making sense of the issues that affect their lives, sets goals for improvement and responds to problems through engaging with the people and empowering them with the skills and tools to change their situation!
